Our Veterinarians
During veterinary school Brooke was able to explore multiple fields as an active member of many student chapters of national organizations. She actively participated in the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), as well as being involved with equine respiratory research, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Government Relations Division of the AVMA, Tufts University Pet Loss Support Hotline, and Tufts Vet School's youth outreach programs. She became enamored with Colorado while doing externships at the Littleton Large Animal Clinic and Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine during her last year of veterinary school. Dr. Brooke moved out west after graduation and began her career in Aurora at a mixed animal practice before shifting her focus to the south side of Denver and beginning work in Castle Rock. Dr. Brooke truly enjoys caring for the beloved pets with which she interacts each day as well as the humans they invariably have with them. Her focus is on high quality preventative medicine and health for her patients. She wants to keep your four-legged family member around and happy as long as possible! She has a special interest in pain management and dentistry and is very keen on keeping all of the surgical cases seen at the Animal Care Center as safe as possible. She enjoys seeing the occasional goat, sheep, cow, and pig and is involved in the Douglas County Fair Veterinary Science program. She especially takes pleasure in volunteering for the Denver Dumb Friend's League's Buddy Center here in Castle Rock.
Dr. Brooke lives in Franktown on a small "farm" with her husband of 6 years. Her eldest child Rebecca was the 2003 Denver New Year's baby and continues to grow with flair. Her son Stephen is a toddling terror and keeps her running when she is not at work! She personally is claimed by two puppy-dogs and a couple of cute kitty-cats. The one horse out back does not allege anything about her. She feels blessed to be one of the founding members of the Animal Care Center of Castle Rock and hopes that all of our clients and patients feel they are being treated with the best and most compassionate customer care. Please fell free to contact her if you have any questions or concerns.
After severing his hitch with the army, Dr. Wayment enrolled at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. While at Weber State, he served as the Natural Science Senator and was honored with the 1993 Super Senior Award in the College of Science as well as the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the Department of Zoology. Dr. Wayment enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University in the fall of 1993 to realize his dream of becoming a veterinarian. While in veterinary school, he was involved in the research program and was an active member in the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). Dr. Wayment was involved in research associated with neurotransmitters that affect the gastrointestinal tract, and his original plan was to continue with an active career in veterinary research. However, he enjoyed the interaction with clients and their animals so much during his senior year, that he abandoned the idea of being in a lab and decided to go into private practice. Dr. Wayment graduated Cum Laude from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1997. He was inducted as a member of the National Veterinary Honor Society (PHI ZETA) for being in the top ten percent of his graduating class. Dr. Wayment joined a mixed animal practice in Walla Walla, Washington in the summer of 1997 where he enjoyed practicing mixed animal practice for 2 years. He moved to Castle Rock, Colorado in January of 1999 to join a companion animal clinic. In March of 2003, Dr. Wayment left his position as an associate veterinarian to realize his dream of being a practice owner and started the Animal Care Center of Castle Rock with Dr. Brooke James. Dr. Wayment is involved with many of the 4-H groups in Castle Rock and he enjoys volunteering his time for the Douglas County Fair each fall. Dr. Wayment has a special interest in the animal-human bond, and he enjoys being a part of the happiness that animals bring to owners and their families' lives. He has a special interest in both equine and canine reproduction as well as the health and nutritional aspects of the canine and equine athlete. Dr. Wayment's emphasis is on the care and comfort of the patient. His calm demeanor also offers solace, understanding and empathy to the owner.
Dr. Wayment is owned by an English setter, an English Pointer, a field bred English Cocker and two wild but wonderful cats. He has a wonderful daughter named Kyli who is married to an industrial arts teacher named Kevin Weaver. He also has a great son named Dylan who wants to become a veterinarian and is currently a senior in high school.
